Rachmaninov - Vocalise for Cello and piano op.34

Rachmaninov - Vocalise for Cello and piano op.34. You can download the PDF sheet music Rachmaninov - Vocalise for Cello and piano op.34 on this page. Vocalise, Op. 34 No. 14 (one of Rachmaninov's best-loved works),  is frequently performed in a variety of arrangements, among them several transcriptions for cello and piano in different keys (by Brandukov, Leonard Rose and others). Rachmaninov wrote the first drafts of Vocalise as early as summer 1912. He became obsessed with the idea of the wordless song for voice and piano, and made numerous sketches and revisions, finishing the piano score in September 1915. The work was written for the famous Russian singer, Antonina Nezhdanova. The manuscript of the original version has only recently become available at the Glinka Museum of Music Culture in Moscow. The original key of E flat minor seems more typical of Rachmaninov and corresponds better to the sombre mood of the work.
