- Dolce
- Allegro
- Andance un poco
- Presto
The opening of the Dolce has a very positive outlook, bearing the expectation of a shared musical dialogue. This dialogue develops between the three parts involved in the trio movement; the subject can be identified from the first three bars onwards: first of all in the violin, next in the upper register and finally in the lower register of the harpsichord, suggesting a three-part Fughetta.

The Sonata is designed in a highly concertante form: above all the duelling of the individual parts is to be found in the Allegro in brilliant technical passages whereas they chase after each other in closely-managed entries in the Presto. Here, the bass line indeed carries out its bass function and accompanies the two upper concertante parts. In the Andante un poco, the upper voices sing together above an elegant bass in canon. An atmosphere of distraction - of unfulfilled passion - reigns, with the voices running after each other without ever joining up. |
