Bartok - Violin Rhapsody N1
Bartok - Violin Rhapsody N1. You can download the PDF sheet music Bartok - Violin Rhapsody N1 on this page. The two Rhapsodies were written in 1928, and intended for two Hungarian violinists with whom Bartók gave recitals: Joseph Szigeti and Zoltán Székely respectively. Both works can be played with either piano or orchestral accompaniment, the orchestral version of No.1 including Bartok's only use of the cimbalom. Both, too, are suites of folk dances: Romanian and Hungarian in No.1, with the addition also of Ruthenian music in No.2. And though Bartók, as always, uses village material rather than the café vulgarisations of the city, here he makes some return to the world of Liszt. This is music made for display.
