Mozart wrote the SONATA IN F MAJOR K.376 (374d) when he was 25, having left Salzburg to live alone in Vienna. This sonata, the most galant of them all, forms one of the set of six dedicated to his pupil Josepha Auernhammer, whom Mozart admired deeply as a pianist.

Containing three movements, this sonata leans towards a more conventional classical form. The Allegro greets us with a trio of brilliant chords, which will return thematically to punctuate the remainder of this movement. The following Andante is richly colored, restrained and lyrical, while the final rondo - marked Allegretto grazioso - is highly elegant with a certain directness of form. On this occasion, the piano introduces a graciously beautiful theme then taken up by the violin.
