K. 547, well described by the composer himself as "A little piano sonata for beginners, with violin": the regression to the relationship of the instruments in his early works is evidenced by the fact that the last two movements — the variations by no means to be underestimated — also exist for piano alone. It is a piano sonata with an additional violin part which from time to time takes on a somewhat more individual character. What is unusual in this work is the sequence of three movements in the same key.

| This little sonata should not be compared with the other ones of the later years. Like the Piano Sonata in C major, K545, it was denominated by Mozart 'für Anfánger' — for beginners. The first is an Andantino cantabile in ternary form, with a short cadenza after the middle section — for the piano! The second movement is a regular, lively Allegro; the last a set of variations with a short coda. As in earlier cases (K305 and K379), one variation is for the piano alone, and this time it is the one in the minor mode. |
