Paganini - Violin Concerto N4 d-moll

Paganini - Violin Concerto N4. You can download the PDF sheet music Paganini - Violin Concerto N4 on this page. Concerto for Violin and Orchestra no. 4 in D minor

  1. Allegro maestoso
  2. Adagio flebile con sentimento (attacca —)
  3. Rondo galante. Andantino gaio

In the autumn of 1829 Paganini began work on his Fourth Concerto. On 16 October he wrote that he had "written the first movement of a concerto in D minor and an Adagio in F sharp minor." He performed it several times in Germany during 1830. The Allegro maestoso and the Adagio flebile con sentimento have a strong Romantic colouring, while Paganini's fertile technical inventiveness and gift for appealing melody are apparent throughout the work. After its highly successful Parisian première on 13 March 1831 the critic Castil-Blaze observed that the work exhibited a most original form and contained several highly picturesque effects. Among these effects was doubtless the employment of an obbli-gato triangle in the Rondo. Paganini's unwillingness to reveal the secrets of his art to his rivals caused him to withhold his concertos, along with the rest of his virtuoso concert repertoire, from publication. On his death in 1840 his manuscripts were left to his son Achille, and in 1851 the first two concertos were published along with a few of his numerous other works.
