Chabran - Allegro Rondo for cello and piano

Chabran - Allegro Rondo for cello and piano. You can download the PDF sheet music Chabran - Allegro Rondo for cello and piano on this page. Chabran, Charles b. c. 1723, violinist. He was a member of an Italian musical family from Piedmont. He has often been confused with other musicians of that family name, apparently all related. He was born at Turin about 1723, was a nephew and student of Somis, and was a member of the Royal Chapel at his native city in 1747. He enjoyed great success at Paris in 1751, publishing six sonatas for violin and continuo. This cello piece, Allegro Rondo, is an interesting composition, full of composer tricks. Cello part was edited by Arpad Pejtsik.

Chabran's importance, according to Grove, "lies in the fact that, together with other pupils of Somis, he handed the latter's art down to posterity." Gactano Chabran (fl. 1755-1771), the violoncellist and composer, who seems not to have been at London, was probably his brother (see Grove). Another Chabran, named Francesco, but apparently called Felice or Felix at London, was perhaps the son of cither Charles or Gaetano, but probably not, as suggested by van der Straeten, their brother.
