Frescobaldi - Toccata for cello and piano
Frescobaldi - Toccata for cello and piano. You can download the PDF sheet music Frescobaldi - Toccata for cello and piano on this page. Girolamo Frescobaldi, a near contemporary of Shakespeare, was a famous virtuoso organist, active in Rome, and one of the greatest keyboard composers of the 17th century; the originality of his works exerted a profound influence upon his contemporaries and the succeeding generations. This is a brilliant cello toccata, a form favoured by Frescobaldi, intended to display the performer's dexterity. Jian Wang performs it in a new arrangement for cello and strings, which the Israeli cellist and composer Doron Toister has based on an earlier re-working of one of Frescobaldi's keyboard toccatas by the great Spanish cellist Gaspar Cassado (1897-1966). The Toccata was published in 1925, part of a set of "Six Classical Pieces" for cello and piano. To download PDF, click the "Download PDF" button below the appropriate sheet music image.
