Georgi Mushel was a student of Gnessin, Alexandrov, Oborin and Myaskovsky when he studied piano at the Moscow Conservatory.  He became one of the first true exponents of Uzbek music.He became professor of composition in 1976. Influenced by the local traditional music, he died in Tashkent in 1989.
