Rubinstein - Three pieces for cello and piano op.11

Rubinstein - Three pieces for cello and piano op.11. You can download the PDF sheet music Rubinstein - Three pieces for cello and piano op.11 on this page. Rubinstein writes in 1854 the Op. 11 Pieces — also existing in a version for violin/viola and piano — taking inspiration, elegantly and with panache, from certain Mendelssohn's Songs without Words. With their very rapid tempos, they magnificently underscore the specific qualities of the cello: successively a melodic instrument, intentionally melancholy and unpredictable, in the lineage of Schumann's earliest pieces in the initial Andante quasi adagio; evenly matched with the keyboard in the middle register (D string) in the central Allegro con moto; but clearly leaving it its traditional primacy in the concluding Allegro risoluto, where the soloist has ample opportunity to show off his bowing technique (détaché).
