Ysaye - Sonata op.27 N3 (cello solo transcription)
Ysaye - Sonata op.27 N3 (cello solo transcription). You can download the PDF sheet music Ysaye - Sonata op.27 N3 (cello solo transcription) on this page. In 1923, three years before his last concert performance as a violinist, Ysaye composed his sonatas op.27 for solo violin. Number 6 clearly following the great example of Johann Sebastian Bach and conceived as a collection of his own violin works.
In this cello arrangement, a number of chords had to be simplified due to the larger range of the instrument. These and some other small changes, of course, do not affect the musical meaning and remain here without comment. There are ossia passages in the musical text, which, in addition to the text corresponding to the original, give a simplified version, or rather, a version more adapted to the capabilities of the cello. In the fast passages of the middle section, the cello will probably not be able to fully match the fluidity of the violin, but its "more natural" vocal range in espresso and double stops offers more plasticity and volume.
