Soviet composer Alexei Davidovich Machavariani (1913–1995) received his musical education at the Tbilisi Conservatory. In 1950, his Violin Concerto was awarded the State Prize. Back in the 50s, people noted the creative continuity of Machavariani's composer's decisions from the famous “marine” themes of the genius of Rimsky-Korsakov music (“The Tale of Tsar Saltan”, “Sadko”, “Scheherazade”, etc.). Without quoting directly or copying the music of Rimsky-Korsakov, but using some of his most common techniques, which by then had become the property of the international composer clan, Machavariani creates his own unique music.
