Not having time to complete his orchestration of the “Stone Flower”, Prokofiev was preparing for new composer's ideas: “Pushkin Waltzes”, completion of the third edition of “War and Peace” and an oratorio about the struggle for peace. By the order of the USSR Radio, two simple symphonic waltzes F-dur and cis-moll appeared, designed in sincerely Russian, Glinka tones. Their creation was timed to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the birth of A. S. Pushkin (May 1949), and the author called them "Pushkinsky". This viola arrangement by V. Skibin contains both waltzes - op.120 N1 and op.120 N2.
