Tchaikovsky indeed, was committed to send them one composition per month according to the themes covering the entire cycle of the years seasons. This small program-music corresponds to the romantic aesthetics in regards to the transposition of representation and atmosphere of nature. Some Russian folk melodies appear here. The-Seasons were considered already during Tchaikovsky's lifetime as salon music, partly because of its technical simplicity and its reduction to easy themes.
Barcarolle of Tchaikovsky extensive uses polyphonic developmental techniques, enriching the theme in its sequential presentation with sub-voices and counterpointing voices. In this viola transcription of Barcarole, the accompanying melodic texture, despite the clearly expressed monomelodic type of theme, is richly developed.
