Bacewicz - Sonata da camera for violin and piano

Bacewicz - Sonata da camera for violin and piano. You can download the PDF sheet music Bacewicz - Sonata da camera for violin and piano on this page. The Sonata da Camera is a masterpiece, creatively referring to the musical past. Composed at the end of 1945, it was performed by Bacewicz the following year at the Salle Gaveau. Its fast movements (second Allegro and fifth Gigue) are bursting with incredible élan and wit, which could be compared to Stravinsky’s or to the then neo-classical vein of her fellow composer Constantin Regamey, whose works were also premiered at clandestine concerts in occupied Warsaw. They are counterbalanced by the central, charming and serene Tempo di minuetto, as well as by the meditative opening Largo and the fourth movement Andante sostenuto. The Sonata’s character seems to reflect both the release of tension after a tragic wartime period and refound joy, as well as the pensive stance of a survivor from the city of ruins.
