Haydn - Violin Concerto N1 C-dur
Haydn - Violin Concerto N1 C-dur for violin. You can download the PDF sheet music Haydn - Violin Concerto N1 C-dur for violin on this page. All four of the violin concertos known to have been composed by Haydn (five additional ones were attributed to him at various times) are early works. No. 1 in C was composed no later than 1769, for Luigi Tomasini, the concertmaster of the Esterhazy orchestra. While its layout and proportions conform to the general format of the Classical concerto, in its substance it has more in common with the violin concertos of Bach and Vivaldi than with those Mozart would compose only a half-dozen years later. The style and even the shape of the melodies are predominantly Italianate, and, like the Baroque masters, Haydn backs his soloist with an orchestra of strings alone. Only in the dancelike finale does this work show the greater flexibility and freedom associated with later Classical and early Romantic concertos.
