Containing three movements, this sonata leans towards a more conventional classical form. The Allegro greets us with a trio of brilliant chords, which will return thematically to punctuate the remainder of this movement. The following Andante is richly colored, restrained and lyrical, while the final rondo - marked Allegretto grazioso - is highly elegant with a certain directness of form. On this occasion, the piano introduces a graciously beautiful theme then taken up by the violin. |
