1. Molto Allegro 2. Andante 3. Presto
The SONATA IN A MAJOR K. 526 was composed between Mozart's famous Eine kleine Nacht-musik and his opera Don Giovanni and like those two works, it exhibits a wealth of inspired melodies. The A major Sonata is the most important of all of Mozart's works for piano and violin. Like K.376, it is in three movements, by then the standard sonata structure.

By the time he completed the sonata on 24 August 1787, Wolfgang had begun to settle down: he was 31, married, with a child, and - for the first time - not constantly on the road.
The opening, marked Molto Allegro, hints at a virtuosity which will reveal itself unmistakably in the finale. Beginning with a rhythmically complex theme, this movement is marked by great melodic emphasis and imagination. We find ourselves in the presence of the mature composer; the music seems to attain a state of ecstasy. In the glorious Andante that follows, Mozart achieves a maximum of expressiveness through simplicity and profound insight. The sonata concludes with an exuberant Presto, full of life and energy and with a coda that dazzles the listener.
